Games Like Stardew Valley: Farm Life Games to Play Online
Updated
Games like Stardew Valley are farm life games: you start with a small, messy plot, grow crops and raise animals, sell what you make and turn it into a better farm and a busier village. Stardew Valley is a 2016 farm life game by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone. No browser game does all of it at once, so below are original games by independent studios that each do one part well.
What Stardew Valley players love
In Stardew Valley you take over your grandfather's run-down farm just outside Pelican Town. You clear land, plant seasonal crops that need watering every day and raise animals, through four seasons of 28 days each. Skills grow in farming, foraging, fishing, mining and combat, and you build friendships with the people in town (source).
So the parts to look for are: a farm loop, a town or village to grow, chores with tools you upgrade, and a slow hobby such as fishing. Here is where the games below fit.
| What you like in Stardew Valley | Games that do the same |
|---|---|
| Start small and grow the farm | Farming Life, Village Farm Life |
| Build up a village | Farm House, Hamster Village, Pet Island |
| Chop, mine and upgrade tools | Misland Online, Wild Island Quest |
| Fishing | Tiny Fishing, Fishing Life |
| Hunger, foraging and the dangers outside the farm | Everwild Survival |
A small farm in a small town
- Farming Life is the closest start: a tiny farm in a small town. Tend crops and animals, sell your produce at the local market, then spend the money on new seeds and buildings and better equipment. The goal is to become the most popular farmer around.
- Village Farm Life covers the whole chain: plant and tend crops until harvest, buy and breed animals and care for them until they are grown, and turn what you harvest into food. You play it with the mouse.

The farm games guide has more of these, plus tractor games and idle farms.
From farm to village
These go past the fence and let you build the place around the farm.
- Farm House - Farming Games for Kids has you run the farm, feed the animals and your pet, trade your products and buy land to grow the farm into a village and a town.
- Hamster Village is the cozy one. Build a village for hamsters with farmland, cafes and restaurants, and invite new hamsters to move in.
- Pet Island sets up a new village on an island. Build houses, raise animals, harvest fields, discover nearby islands and trade with friends. You move by sliding.
Island chores and tool upgrades
In Stardew Valley much of the day goes to chopping, breaking rocks and upgrading tools. These two make that the whole game.
- Misland Online turns a deserted island into a paradise. You start by picking apples with your bare hands, upgrade your skills and tools one by one, and trade resources with passing ships. Later a team of helpers picks apples, fells trees and quarries stone for you, while you defend the island from monsters with a sword. W, A, S and D or a mouse drag move you.
- Wild Island Quest is about missions. Chop trees, mine rocks, earn new tools and craft items such as berry jam, rescue companions who help with the work and sail on to new islands.

Fishing on its own
- Tiny Fishing is a calm fishing game. Set the casting distance with the spinner, then drag the hook left and right to catch fish on the way down. Cash from each catch buys upgrades and new hooks, and its description says you keep earning even after you leave the game.
- Fishing Life is a clicker. Pick the fish you want, tap the water to reel it in and manage its energy, then spend your earnings on strength, outfits, a keepnet and assistants.

The wilder side
Everwild Survival keeps the chores and adds danger. Chop trees, mine, fish and hunt, while you manage hunger, thirst, health and happiness, and get to your shelter before night, when predators roam. If you liked the mines more than the crops, more games like it are in survival games.
Raft Evolution does the same on the sea: build a raft, fish and cook, and explore the islands, with a day and night cycle to plan around.

Tips for farm life games
- Plant a little, sell, then plant more. In Farming Life the market money is what pays for new seeds and buildings.
- Spend early money on tools and helpers, not decorations. In Misland Online helpers take over the apples, trees and stone, which frees you for everything else.
- Spend between casts. In Tiny Fishing the cash from each catch buys upgrades and new hooks for the next one.
- Keep food in your pocket in Everwild Survival. Hunger and thirst keep falling while you build.
