Party Games Online: Minigames and Pass-and-Play for a Group

Updated

Party games online are quick rounds that a group plays around one screen, each person with a key or a turn. Most of the games below share one keyboard or one device, so you need a browser and a few friends, and a couple have an online mode. They are sorted by how the group plays: minigame collections, one-screen contests, pass-and-play games and online brawls.

What makes a game a party game

  • Short rounds, so nobody waits long for the next one. 12 MiniBattles describes rounds that last seconds.
  • Few controls. In MiniBattles every player has one button, and 12 MiniBattles gives player one the A key and player two the L key.
  • Room for a crowd: more than two seats on one keyboard, or turns on one device.
  • A score the group can argue about, such as the counter in MiniBattles that shows who has won the most battles.

For games that name up to four players, see 4 player games.

Minigame collections

One game, many small contests: a collection keeps the evening going without picking a new game every few minutes.

  • MiniBattles - 2 3 4 5 6 Player Games: up to six players at the same time in all-against-all battles with one winner, and a counter shows who has won the most, so you can run a tournament. Players 1 to 4 use C, N, P and Q, and players 5 and 6 the left and right arrow keys. The mix includes soccer, cars, war tanks, sumo, archers, vikings and spaceships.
  • 12 MiniBattles: twelve one-screen duels for two people at one keyboard. Player one presses A and player two presses L, whether the round is shooting, fencing or landing a plane.
  • SuperBattle: 51 mini-games that you can play by yourself or with a friend, including football, racing, boxing, tennis and tank matches. Player 1 uses W A S D and player 2 the arrow keys.
  • Mind Games for 2 3 4 Player: 27 games in one, among them skill, brain and matching games, pop-it games, mancala, ludo and tic-tac-toe, and most can be played by two, three or four players. Player 1 uses W A S D and E, player 2 the arrow keys and Backspace, player 3 I J K L and O, and player 4 T F G H and Y, or you take turns with the mouse.
  • Glowit - Two Players: 12 mini-games, with a new random one each round and instructions before it starts. It is turn-based, and you drag the left mouse button to play.
  • Farmer Challenge Party: two farmers compete over four chapters: chicken pick challenge, plant and harvest, vegetable wars and fishing. In every chapter the first to score 10 wins.

Contests on one screen

These put everyone on the same screen.

  • Sumo Fight: a party game where four fighters try to push each other out of the ring, and you can play it with a friend.
  • Drunk Basket: a 1-2 player ragdoll basketball game. Hold W, or the up arrow for player 2, to charge a shot and release to throw. Every round adds a random twist, from low gravity to a giant ball. Play the AI or a friend on the same device, and on mobile use the on-screen buttons.
  • Hole Upper For 2 Players: local split-screen. Each player moves a hungry hole, swallows blocks to grow and tries to out-eat the other before the timer reaches zero, using W A S D, the arrow keys or the on-screen joystick.
  • Penguin Fish Run: play alone or with a friend as small penguins running on a treadmill and jumping over obstacles. Touch one and you may be ejected.

Pass-and-play and guessing games

With one device and a group, pass the mouse around.

  • Hangman 2-4 Players: play in 2, 3 or 4 player modes and pick letters with the mouse. Choose word pools of colors, animals and fruits, or all of them.
  • Tic Tac Toe 1-4 Player: tic-tac-toe for one, two, three or four players, with the mouse or by touch.
  • Darts Pro Multiplayer: darts with three modes: multiplayer, against the computer, or a friend on the same device. Tap the screen to set the starting position, direction and strength of each throw.
  • Charade 3D Game: it describes itself as a party game of acting and guessing words across categories, to play solo or with friends and family. You play with a mouse click or a tap.

When everyone is on a different device

  • Join the Gang and Fight: an online multiplayer physics game where stickman warriors battle in wobbly ragdoll arenas. Invite your friends to form a gang and play events such as Brawl, Kick the King, Steal the Chicken, Racing and Football.
  • Gang Fall Party: a punching game where you try to knock opponents off high places. It has a single player mode, a 1vs1 mode for two players (player 1 on W A S D, player 2 on the arrow keys) and an online Vs All mode where each game has 16 or 17 players.

Private rooms and codes for friends are covered in multiplayer games online.

Tips for a game night

  • Seat everyone within reach of their keys and agree on them before the first round.
  • If key presses go missing when several people press at once, the keyboard may be the cause. Try a game that uses the mouse or touch, such as Hangman 2-4 Players. 2 player games on one keyboard explains the limit.
  • A bigger screen helps a group: see how to make a browser game full screen.
