Ninja Games Online: Runners, Platformers and Fighters

Updated

Ninja games online are browser games in which you play a ninja: you run, jump, swing a sword, throw stars or sneak past patrols. They fall into a few types: runners, platformers, fighters and stealth games, and the games below are grouped that way. They are made by independent studios, and each one plays in the browser.

Ninja runners

In a runner the course keeps coming, and your job is to pick the moment to jump and the moment to strike.

  • Ninja on the Run sends you down an endless path packed with traps, dangerous enemies and coins. The character runs automatically. On a computer you click the left side of the game area to jump and the right side to attack, and on a phone or tablet you tap the left side of the screen to jump. You spend the coins you collect on new characters.
  • Run Ninja has evil demon samurais trying to stop your ninja. You jump and throw stars to complete the task: tap the left of the screen to jump and the right to throw a star.
  • Carrot Ninja Runner stars a ninja with a carrot-like look. You run, jump, slide and fight through levels with the arrow keys, collect coins and upgrade your ninja's weapons and abilities with them. Space fights.
  • GN Ninja Run has your ninja jump over wooden bridges, collect coins and dodge bombs, and the farther you go, the higher your score. You press or touch the screen.
  • Ninja Frog Runner is a 2D runner starring a ninja frog, with obstacles, enemies and power-ups on the way. The left and right arrows move you, Up jumps and a second press of Up is a double jump.

Ninja platformers

In a platformer you control the movement, and the level is the challenge.

  • Mononinja is about precise jumps and avoiding certain death on the way to the goal, over 30 levels. Hold Space to jump, and the longer you hold, the higher you go. On a phone you tap and hold the screen.
  • Ninja Platformer Rage has 50 short, tough levels of traps. You throw your shadow and teleport to it, climb walls and double-jump, and you can race for a faster time. A and D or the arrow keys move you, Space jumps, Shift throws the shadow and a double press of Shift teleports you to it.
  • Ninja Rian Adventure sends you after a villain who kidnapped the princess, through many enemies and powerful bosses. You glide, jump, throw darts and use sword skills. A and D or the arrow keys move you, Space or Up jumps, J is the melee attack, K throws darts and L dodges.
  • Kingdom of Ninja 3 is a 2D game with 15 levels, where you pass monsters, some flying and some crawling. Z jumps and the arrow keys move, and it has touch controls on a phone.

Platformers in general, with their double jumps and dashes, are explained in the platformer games guide.

Ninja fighters and arena games

  • Ninja Versus Ninja puts you in the Blue Ninja's place against the Red Ninja, across 30 arenas. You fight with a sword up close or with throwing stars. The arrow keys move you, O swings the sword and P throws a star.
  • Ghost Ninja is a 3D arena survival game. You face relentless waves of ninja enemies, dodging and slashing through hordes while you collect gems for upgrades. Each run brings new weapons and abilities that stack into combos. You click and drag with the mouse to move.
  • Shinobi Swarm asks you to survive growing waves of enemies while you collect XP to evolve your abilities. Powerful bosses wait at the end of each level, and coins buy new characters and permanent upgrades. Use WASD or the arrow keys, a gamepad, or the virtual joystick on a phone.

Silent ninjas

  • Spiny Ninja is about stealth. You evade enemy patrols, stay out of view cones, hide in shadows and knock foes out from behind, and you collect coins and find safe paths to save points. Coins buy shields. The arrow keys or a swipe move you, and Space or a tap is the Shadow Strike.
  • Silent Shuriken is a reflex game. As a swift and silent ninja you dodge deadly blades, spinning traps and slicing hazards, and you collect bonus objects to raise your score. Click to go to the other side.

Tips for ninja games

  1. Learn the jump first. In Mononinja the jump grows with the time you hold the key, and in Ninja Frog Runner a second press of Up gives a double jump.
  2. Know which side strikes. In Ninja on the Run the right side of the game area attacks, and in Run Ninja the right side throws a star.
  3. Spend coins on what helps. Carrot Ninja Runner lets you upgrade weapons and abilities with them, and Spiny Ninja lets you buy shields.
  4. In stealth levels, watch before you move. Spiny Ninja has patrols and view cones, so read them first.
  5. Retry fast on hard levels. Ninja Platformer Rage is built from short levels, so a failed try costs little.
