Daily Game and Streak: How the Game of the Day Works
Updated
Every day there is one game of the day for everyone, with a countdown to the next one. Play any game once and the day counts toward your streak; miss a day and the streak starts over. Both work without an account, in the browser you use.
What the game of the day is
One game is picked for everyone each day. It comes from the sixty most-played games in the catalog and moves one place down that chart every day, so tomorrow brings a different game. Everyone gets the same game on the same date, and the same date always gives the same game.
You find it at the head of the home page, with a clock counting down to the next one. The site also calls it the daily challenge or the daily pick.
How the streak works
The rule is short: play any game once and the day counts. Miss a day and the streak starts over. The streak counts the days you came back, not the hours you spent playing.
| What you do | What happens to your streak |
|---|---|
| Play the game of the day | The day counts |
| Play any other game | The day counts just the same |
| Play several games in one day | The day still counts once |
| Skip a whole day | The streak starts over |
Playing the game of the day is one easy way to keep a streak alive, but nothing requires it. Any game in the catalog counts the same.
When the day rolls over
Days roll over at midnight UTC, not at midnight where you live. Depending on your time zone, that moment can fall at any hour of your day.
So if you play close to that moment, check which side of midnight UTC you are on. A game played just after it counts for the new day, and a game played just before it counts for the old one.
Where your streak and favorites are kept
Favorites, recently played games, the game of the day and the streak all work without an account. There is no registration, no password and no email address.
They live in the browser you use. Clear its data, open a private window or switch devices, and they start over, because there is no account to sign back into. Three habits keep a streak going:
- Play in the same browser on the same device.
- Leave private windows for browsing you do not want remembered, not for the games you want counted.
- Do not clear cookies and site data for the site if you want to keep your streak and favorites.
Favorites and recently played
Tap the heart on any game, on its own page or in the corner of any card, and it is waiting in your favorites next time. The games you opened most recently are listed on the home page and on your profile, newest first, so finding one again does not mean remembering its name.
Keeping a streak on a busy day
Any game counts the same, so on a busy day a short one is enough. Most of these run on a single input. Speedy Golf aims with two arrow buttons and shoots with three taps, and by its own description a full 18-hole course lasts a few minutes; more courses are in golf games. Orbit Tap Rush One Tap Game reverses two planets' orbit with each tap, and ZigZag Snow Mountain is a downhill run steered with the mouse alone.
Tennis Hero is one-button tennis where timing decides each shot. Color Water Sort is tap to pour, and in Go Up Tap ZigZag Box Challenge each tap switches a box's direction between left and right on its way up. More are in hypercasual games, and games to play when bored sorts quick picks by the time you have.
Not the same as a game's own daily challenge
Some games have daily challenges or quests of their own inside the game. Solitaire 8 Collection has a daily challenge with the same deal for every player and a streak of its own, and Klondike Solitaire Treasures has daily quests and a login streak.
Those belong to the game and are kept by it. The site's streak is separate: it counts any game you play on the site, once a day. If solitaire is your daily game, how to play solitaire covers Klondike, which both of these games include.
Frequently asked questions
How is the game of the day chosen?
It comes from the sixty most-played games in the catalog, one place further down that chart each day. Everyone gets the same game on the same date.
What breaks a streak?
Missing a day. Playing any game once is enough to keep it, and playing twice in one day counts once.
Do my favorites and streak follow me to another device?
No. They are kept in the browser you played in, so a different browser, a different phone or a private window starts from nothing.
Do I need an account?
No. The game of the day, the streak, favorites and recently played all work without one, and the site asks for neither money nor personal data. The full explanation is on Why Jumpcade.
One game a day is all the streak asks for.
