Sports Games Online: Volleyball, Tennis, Cricket and More

Sports games online turn a real sport into a few keys or taps: you time a swing, aim a throw or press keys fast to sprint. The sports games category covers many sports, and below are the ones without a guide of their own, from volleyball and cricket to darts, archery and athletics, with how each one plays.

Volleyball games
In real volleyball a team may touch the ball up to three times before it goes back over the net, and no player may touch it twice in a row, as Wikipedia's volleyball article explains. The first two touches usually set up the attack.
- Netherton Volleyball gives you a whole 6v6 team. Time your taps to serve, pass, dig and block, then pick a hitter: each ring's color shows the chance to score. Beat 18 rival teams in best-of-three matches to 11 points, then a best-of-five final. On a keyboard, Space taps, Q W E set the front row, A S D the back row, and V challenges a line call.
- Beach volleyball 3D has two players a side, and you control one of them. The first side to three points wins.
- Coconut Volley bounces a coconut over the net with an umbrella, against the computer or a friend in two-player mode.
- Volley Lama uses random physics, so every hit lands differently. Alone you play with the up arrow or a click; with two players, one uses W and the other the up arrow.
Tennis games
- 3D Tennis hits or slices with a swipe. Train in training mode, beat opponents to improve your player and play through the four Grand Slam tournaments. Its instructions say all the rules of tennis apply.
- Tennis Mania plays with the mouse: exchange shots, and the first to 3 wins.
- Retro Tiny Tennis sends balls at you faster the longer you last, and you return them while dodging flying bottles. One mistake and you are out.
- Funny Tennis is played only against bots: you can win the tournament and play with new characters.
Cricket and baseball games
Batting games come down to timing the swing.
- T20 Cricket puts you in as the batsman: the bowler runs in fast, and you tap or click to defend or hit hard.
- Street Cricket gives you a target each round. Tap to hit, and a fuller power bar sends the ball higher for more runs.
- Cricket 2020 makes you the last wicket, scoring as much as you can to win the match.
- Cricket Hero throws balls, eggs and more from all directions at different speeds. Miss three in a row and you are out.
- Baseball Bat has you hit curveballs and fastballs while dodging paint bombs. Click at the right moment to swing.
- Flick HomeRun- Baseball is about home runs, with batting built on a physical pendulum.
American football games
- 4th and Goal 2022 makes you the quarterback. Pick plays from the playbook to set up a passing play or run for a few meters yourself, in a single Championship game or through a playoff.
- Football Crash 2 is a runner: sprint downfield and swerve through defenders. Pass close to a tackler for a perfect dodge, chain them for a x5 combo, and grab lightning bolts for Crash Mode. Each of its 24 teams has a perk such as a magnet or double touchdowns.
Darts and bowling games
Standard darts starts each player on 301 or 501 and subtracts every throw, per Wikipedia's darts article. The first to reach exactly zero, with the last dart in a double or the bullseye, wins. Going below zero, landing on one, or reaching zero without a double is a bust, and the score goes back to where the turn began. A 501 leg takes at least nine darts.
- Glow Darts has 301, 501, Around The World and Baseball modes. Hold the mouse button to aim, release when the crosshair is in place.
- Darts 501 and more plays 501 or a 9 dart challenge, against a friend or through a world tournament against AI opponents.
- Ten Pin Bowling plays with a tap, and its description says the aim is not just points but an impressive strike.
- Galaxy Bowling 3D Free has three kinds of bowling: ten pin, candlepin and 100 pins.
- Bowling Crew lets you challenge friends or play 1v1 against opponents from all over the world.
Archery games
- Archery Training aims test arrows at the center of the target, with more wind every time.
- Tiny Archer gives you a limited number of arrows and takes one away every time you miss, so accuracy keeps the run alive.
- Bow Masters Arena has a practice mode, tournaments against AI archers and bows to upgrade.
Athletics and winter sports games
- TRZ Athletic Games packs ten events: the 100, 400 and 800 meters, long jump, high jump, javelin, hurdles, pole vault, discus and shot put.
- Athletics Hero runs the 100m, javelin and triple jump. For throws and jumps, hold and release when the power bar is full, but do not overpower.
- HURDLES has 8 runners and 12 stages. Press Space at the right moment, and a perfect jump scores more.
- Swimming Pool Race swims 100 to 400 meters in breaststroke, front crawl, backstroke, butterfly or freestyle.
- Zoolympics has cartoon animal athletes in more than 15 events. Tap the left and right zones in turn to build speed.
- Ski Jumping Pro has a single-player career, with coins that upgrade your skills.
- Skateboard Challenge collects the letters of S-K-A-T-E and C-O-M-B-O. Z does a kickflip, C a heelflip and Space an ollie.
- Ski It picks one of five skiers and dodges stones and trees for as long as you can stay up.
- Hockey Skills tests speed skating, shots on goal and targets.
