Zombie Games Online: Shooters, Defense and Survival Tips
Updated
Zombie games online come in four main kinds: shooters where you hold off the horde with guns, defense games where you place towers or guard a barricade, survival games where you build a base with friends, and driving games where you plow through the undead. Almost all of them send zombies in waves that get harder, so the same habits keep you alive: keep moving, spend between waves and know what ends the run. Below are the kinds, their controls and games from the zombie games collection.
Kinds of zombie games
| Kind | What you do | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Top-down shooter | Move with WASD, aim with the mouse, outlast the waves | WOMS World of Master Survivors |
| First-person shooter | Walk the map, aim, reload, pick up weapons | Zombie Mayhem Online |
| Defense | Place towers or guard a fence so nothing gets through | Tiny Zomby The Barricade |
| Co-op survival | Gather resources and build a base with other players | Nightwalkers.io |
| Driving | Steer through the horde and upgrade the car between runs | Last Garage: Zombie Road |
Top-down zombie shooters
Top-down shooters show the map from above. You move with WASD or the arrow keys and aim with the mouse, so each hand has its own job.
- WOMS World of Master Survivors has you hold a street corner against endless waves. Surviving pays for upgrades between waves: heavier ammo, cover drones, turrets and gunship calls. Q deploys a turret, E calls air support and G throws a grenade. The Fortified Compound mode doubles the horde but gives you four corner turrets.
- Outbreak Ops sends you into quarantine zones with pistols, shotguns, SMGs, sniper rifles, flamethrowers and miniguns. R reloads, Shift dashes and Space throws a grenade, and boss zombies have their own attack patterns.
- Zombie Siege fires for you when zombies come in range, so your job is where you stand. Rescue trapped survivors to build a squad of a shield tank, a sharpshooter and a medic, then escort them to the safe zone. Bosses drop permanent upgrades.
- Zombie Horde pays points for every kill, and points buy new weapons and bullets. The zombies get stronger and faster as time goes on, and a single touch kills you.
- Horde Zombie War is a machine-gun shooter: hold the mouse button to fire and move the crosshair to aim. You lose a life every time you get hit.
First-person and side-view zombie shooters
- Zombie Mayhem Online has three maps with 10 levels each, six weapons and more than 20 kinds of zombies. Coins from kills buy new weapons. The right mouse button aims, R reloads, G throws a grenade and Left Ctrl crouches.
- Zombie Defence Team has four big levels crowded with zombies, played as a special forces soldier. The right mouse button aims, the mouse wheel changes weapons, and T triggers bullet time.
- Zombie Attack: Defense is a 2D side view: walk with A and D, jump with W or Space, shoot with the left mouse button, throw a bomb with the right one, and press Z for a nuke. Each wave is harder than the last.
- Deads On The Road is a run on dark roads: steer with A and D, speed up with W, slow down with S, shoot with the left mouse button and swing a katana with the right. Your score is how many meters you cover.
Shooters without the undead are in shooting games, and habits for aiming, reloading and cover are in shooting games tips.
Zombie defense games
In defense games the zombies walk toward something you protect: a city, a fence or a base. You win with what you place, not only with how you aim.
- Defend Against Zombies is classic tower defense. Pick towers, place them, and press the start wave button when you are ready, so the time before each wave is yours to build.
- Tiny Zomby The Barricade puts you on a watchtower with a rifle and a wooden fence. Drag to aim, tap to shoot, collect the coins zombies drop, plant mines where they walk and save up for the shotgun. There are six stages of six waves each, with a boss at the end of every stage.
- Terrifying Zombies: Tower Defense II mixes towers with your own gun. Zombies you shoot yourself give the most XP, while tower kills give less. Fences raise their health and regeneration every round, and zombie damage grows with each day you survive.
- Urban Siege Line has three lanes: switch lanes with the up and down arrows, shoot with S, call air support with A, deploy your squad with D and throw a grenade with F.
- Turret Defend Apocalypse is about merging: two identical turrets combine into a stronger one, while the enemies grow faster and tougher.
Co-op zombie survival online
- Nightwalkers.io is co-op survival against endless waves: gather resources, build weapons and a base, and hold out with friends. It adds Noise, which attracts zombies, and events called Apocalypses. The left mouse button shoots or places a building, the right one interacts with buildings, and 1 to 6 equip weapons.
- Zomblox.io is multiplayer wave survival on 3 maps, or on maps you make in its level editor. Break loot boxes for stronger weapons and pick them up with E.
More games against people online are in io games. Survival games without zombies, where you craft and watch hunger and thirst, are in survival games online.
Driving through the horde
- Last Garage: Zombie Road is a 3D run across city streets, suburbs and a forest highway. Weapons fire on their own while you steer with A and D, press Space for nitro and Q for a shockwave. Collect scrap, fuel and ammo, then repair and upgrade the armor, engine, weapons and nitro between runs. One of three lanes is always open.
- Deadshift Halloween Night has 20 missions in a quarantined arena. Follow the orange markers, collect green supply crates to repair the car and refill nitro, and stop inside the green extraction ring before time runs out.
- Cars vs Zombies gives you arenas to wreck and a garage where you improve stats, attach armor and fit boosters.
Habits that keep you alive
- Keep moving. In Zombie Horde one touch ends the game, and in Horde Zombie War every hit costs a life.
- Spend between waves. WOMS, Outbreak Ops and Last Garage all turn coins or scrap into upgrades, and the waves keep growing either way.
- Build before you press start. Defend Against Zombies sends the next wave only when you press the button.
- Take the kills yourself when it pays. In Terrifying Zombies: Tower Defense II your own shots earn more XP than your towers.
- Reload between groups. Zombie Mayhem Online, Zombie Defence Team and Outbreak Ops all reload on R, so top up the gun before the next group reaches you, not in the middle of it.
